November 12, 2007 - HOMEWARD BOUND!

Haliluya! I got to leave the hospital today & sleep in my own bed tonight. It is definitely much better at home. I finally got 288 white blood cells. It went up almost 100 since the day before. It seems like it took forever.

We still have appointments. On Tues we have to have a blood test done, Wed we go to the clinic at Children's Hospital to see if I need palatelet transfusion. Friday I get another bone marrow biopsy, then they will figure out what we do after that.

I don't like living with this cancer. I wish I didn't have it, and I was back at school. Even school is better than this.

I got to meet some Seahawks at the hospital and a Sea Gal. Here's a picture

Hi Grant!
Glad you got to come home! We were doing horrible in chef school without you. Were you there when Kiara almost put an egg in the Orange Julius? She was going to give Mrs. Case some food we made to give to you but i think she ate it. She was eating a cinnamon roll in the hall in the middle of the day but she claims that it was hers. The submarines in science were kinda cool. About five people did the same thing. Only like one of those ones worked. Do you maybe play any online games or have any instant messengers that I could talk to you on? That would be pretty cool.

Well, talk to you later,
Austin Roberts

Hi Grant! I was reading your blog and wanted you to know that we've all been thinking about you at your old school, Brier. I'm so glad that you are getting to go home and take a break from the hospital. Have fun at home and eat something yummy (there food is pretty crummy). If you happen to have Lisa as your nurse next time, tell her, "Hi" from me.

Take care,
Mrs. Gonsalves

Hi Grant!

Mrs. Gonsalves sent me your blog and I've been reading all about your latest experiences with the hospital, crummy food, Seahawks visits, visits from friends, etc. I sure wish you didn't have to go through all this. When I read that you'd rather be in school I KNEW you must be bored!

My family and I are praying for a miracle for you, Grant. The church here on Camano Island has been praying for you, too! :)

I'm glad to see that even with all the treatments you are getting your sense of humor is still coming through in the blog messages.

Take care, Grant.
Mrs. Perry :)

Hi Grant.

You don't really know me, but Mrs. Case talks about you all the time. I'm sorry that you have to go through this. Last week someone threw Kaleigh Anthony's Binder in the recycle. We spent like a quarter of period 5 just sitting there. I hope your feeling well! Please, get better soon. We are all cheering for you!

Hi Grant,

I'm glad you got to leave the hospital and go home. Your blog is awesome. It's not the same as having you here, but it's good to be able to keep in touch some. We got your blog unblocked so we can read it at school even though we can't see the comments or leave comments from BTM. I was so glad to hear they found a bone marrow donor for you. Stay positive, and stay in touch. If you want any books or books on tape, let me know, and I'll arrange to get some for you. Take care, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving. --Ms. Garrison

Hey, it's me again. We miss you in Chef School. Tomorrow is Pie Day. We wanted you to come and I made you an invitation, but Mrs.Albrecht said that you probably would'nt be able to come, so we are making a pie for you! I'm not sure if our group is acctually going to make it for you or if Mrs.Albrecht is, but yeah. She said your favorite was apple pie so that's what we're gonna make for you. Like April said, somebody threw Kailey's binder in the recycle bin and we just sat there for like twenty minutes. It was so boring. Today in Chef School Kiara was drying the dishes and i was putting them away. She handed me a measuring cup and said, "Don't drop it!". I said, "You're more likely to drop it than me!" Then she was like, "That's mean!". Then she dropped a spatula on the floor. It was hilarious. Chef School is one of the funniest classes and if you were there with us it would probably be even more funny. We have wanted to send some of the food we made to you, but there hasn't been anything that would be good to send. Everything that we have made would be cold and nasty by the time it got to you. Can you watch TV in the hospital?(are you still at home or have you gone back?) I don't know what I would do if I couldn't watch Heroes on Monday's. Acctually I could just watch it on the website, so nevermind. But I don't know what I would do if I couldn't watch the other shows that i like. In science we have been doing some fun stuff. Last week we were adding heat to certain chemicals or something and it was pretty cool what some of them did. Today we were boiling water and watching the temperature change. Sounds boring but it was pretty fun acctually. If you go to http://youtube.com/profile?user=dabaggas you can see some videos that Sam Collins and Kevin Hovell made. School would be a lot more fun with you there.

Well, got to go now,

Austin Roberts
